Proposed Harborview Amendment Hearing Thursday - June 7

Details:
HarborView's proposed amendment to the 1986 Key
Highway Urban Renewal Plan will be heard by the Urban
Affairs Committee at 5:00 pm on Thursday June 7 at
City Hall in Council Chambers on the 2nd Floor. This
amendment has already passed/been pushed through the
Planning Commission.
The Amendment would modify the URO’s (Urban Renewal
Ordinance) original development area controls to allow
for construction of TWO additional tall towers on the
site. Absent this Amendment the developer could only
complete construction of ONE additional 17 story tower
(the Pinnacle- approx 170 feet tall).
HarborView now seeks to build TWO additional 290
feet-plus tall towers. One at the intersection of
Cross (on the waterside of Key Highway), and the other
on the Parking Lot adjacent to the southern entrance
by Anchor St (at the end of the Town House buildings -
the marina parking lot) to HarborView.
We encourage our neighbors to express their opinions
by email directly to the Chairman and the other
Committee Members (with copies to Council President
Rawlings-Blake and Councilman Reisinger).
RNA's official position is that this property is
"built out" or "maxed out" as far as additional
buildings and the amendment should NOT be approved. We
would also recommend that letter writers respectfully
request that Ms. Spector recuse herself from voting as
she lives in the Harborview Tower. Please be sure to
sign your email and give your address.
