Neighborhood Cleanup Sat 10/17, 9am-Noon

General NewsThe Citywide Fall cleanup will be Saturday 10/17! 9am-Noon

Please come out and help cleanup the neighborhood and park. We will meet at Johnson & Heath St at 9am (we will have refreshments) to help tackle areas in the neighborhood that need to be cleaned up. We have a long list of projects, so any time you can spare is appreciated! We will have gloves, trash bags and shovels & brooms available.

If you cannot join the group, be sure to take some time to cleanup the area around your own home or your block. Pull those weeds, pickup trash, sweep the alley, plant some flowers!

Next RNA Meeting, 10/26

General NewsThe next RNA meeting will be Monday, October 26th at 7pm.

The Reserve, a new restaurant in our neighborhood, will be sponsoring the meeting and will have some items from their menu for us to sample.

Agenda:
- Discussion of off-leash options for dogs in the park and how this will fit in with the master plan for the park
- Any further questions about the master plan for the park
- Plus our usual committee updates

Oktoberfest Sat Oct 24

General NewsThe Catholic Community of South Baltimore is pleased to announce it will be holding its SIXTH ANNUAL OKTOBERFEST on Saturday, October 24, 2009 from 11 A.M. to 5 P.M. at St. Mary’s, Star of the Sea, Gittings Street and Battery Avenue. Please note this is a change from our previous location. ADMISSION IS FREE. The event will include live music, traditional German food and beverages, games of chance and lots of activities for children, including a fire truck and moon bounce.

Tree Planting Sat 9/26

General NewsTree planting this Saturday Sept 26 at 9am. Meet at intersection of Gittings/Riverside.

South Baltimore Tree Project: The second part of the South Baltimore Tree Project will take place on September 26th. The project involves preparing 9 tree pits (6 on Gittings; 3 on Fort) for a fall planting. We will meet at 9am at St Mary, Star of the Sea, which is located at Riverside and Gittings. All ability and experience levels are welcome; we have a variety of tasks that can done. Bring pets, kids, and friends; tools and light refreshments will be provided. The South Baltimore Tree Project is a joint neighborhood planting project with Riverside, Federal Hill South, and SBIC that was funded by a grant from the Chesapeake Bay Trust. The grant funded 30 new tree locations within the South Baltimore area. Hope to see you there!

Reminder - Riverside Park Master Plan Meeting Aug 25, 7:30pm

The meeting will be held at Salem Lutheran Church (our usual RNA meeting location)

General NewsReminder - the next concert in the park is this Sunday, August 2 6pm-8pm. Featuring the music of one of our fellow residents, Sandy Asirvatham and her Quartet. Hope to see you there!

Next Crime Walk Monday August 3

General NewsReminder!

The next COP walk in our area is Monday, August 3rd at 7pm. This walk covers the Riverside/SBNA neighborhoods and begins at the Riverside Park gazebo. We hope to see some new faces and would like to let you know that Rub BBQ sponsors the Riverside/SBNA walk. After the patrol (which always includes a police officer) all COP participants can get $2 Rub mico-brews and $5 pulled bird and chipped beef sandwiches (normally $9).

Well behaved dogs are welcome! If it is raining or over 90 degrees at 6pm, the walk is canceled.

All walks for 2009 are the first Monday of the month. (Except September, which has been moved to Wednesday Sept 9th at 7pm due to the Labor Day holiday.)

Concerts in the Park Return for Summer 2009!

General NewsThe Riverside Concerts in the Park are returning for Summer 2009!

Dates:
Sunday, July 12th - 6-8pm
Sunday, August 2nd - 6-8pm
Sunday, August 23rd - 6-8pm

Watch for more information on the RNA website and throughout the neighborhood. Concerts will be held at the gazebo and surrounding lawn areas in Riverside Park.
